It’s at this time of the year our eyes usually turn to the Meath Road Hurling Championships on the Ballyconnell Road. The phone calls start with friends and mates trying to organise our team and find someone to do scorer for us on the day. The day arrives and we park at the hall, get the bus to the start of the road, collect our sliotar and the craic begins trying to keep our own sliotar on the road while getting the longest distance out of it as possible. Spend some time in a ditch along the way searching for our sliotar!!! Have a quick stop at the half way house for some “light refreshments” then continue the second half of the competition. (usually much better than the first, due to the liquid encouragement received at the half way house!!) Then finish up at Bird’s with a nice warm bowl of soup and chats with old friends.
Unfortunately this year like a lot of other events, due to the current ongoing Covid ’19 pandemic, restrictions and in the interest of health & safety of our Members and Supporters, we have had to postpone the Meath Road Hurling Championships.
Please note it is POSTPONED not cancelled, we’ve never had to cancel it so we will run it at a safer time during 2021.
Stay Safe,
Boardsmill GAA Committee.
