Boardsmill GAA hosted a wonderful evening on 13th February 2026. The event celebrated the achievements of the Club in 1975 at The Castle Arch Hotel.

What happened in 1975 you might ask?

Well…. 1975 was one of the greatest years in our Club’s history. We became the first hurling club in Meath to be honoured with the Club of the Year Award. That same year, our hurlers completed a historic three-in-a-row of Senior Hurling Championships. They also captured the Junior and Minor Hurling Championships. At underage level, Boardsmill dominated hurling across the county. The team won multiple championships. We cemented our reputation as a powerhouse of the sport. Our Camogie club, not to be outdone, also enjoyed an incredible season. They claimed Club of the Year for their Junior and Underage successes.

This night was the brainchild of Eric Cribbin, John Flood, and Vinny Guy. They wanted to honor the players and management involved in those teams. The lads did fantastic work in the background. They organized the night twice. It was originally meant to be held in November last year, but it was postponed. Cian Royston and Mark Flood were the MC’s on the night. They recalled some great moments from those years. They also introduced the Teams and Management.

Our Minor Team consisted of players from all corners of our catchment area. Some might say the boundaries were widened that year. We are assured that it was all within the rules!

The speeches finished up with a chat from our current Chairman TJ Reilly. He reminisced on some of his memories of that year. He talked about the epic battles had on the pitch and nearly more so of the battles held on the training field! The evening concluded with chats of the old days and some music and dancing.
